  2. audio stopped working, windows 10

upgraded to windows 10 by reservation few days ago... compatibility test result was fine... audio stopped working all of a sudden... tried upgrading the driver software in device manager
but in vain... also tried these methods suggested by Microsoft help community... but the audio is still not working, neither speakers nor headphones

    Method 1:

I suggest you to run the Playing Audio troubleshooter and check if it helps.

    • Type troubleshooting in the search bar.
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • Select View all on the top left corner.
    • Click on Playing Audio.
    • Follow the on-screen instructions to run the troubleshooter.
    • Check if issue persists.

    Method 2:

If there no updated drivers available on the computer manufacturer’s website, then try installing it in compatibility mode. Compatibility mode runs the program using settings from a previous version of Windows. Follow these steps to install the drivers
in compatibility mode and check if that helps.

    • Download the audio driver from the manufacturer’s website.
    • Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘Properties’.
    • Click on the ‘Compatibility’ tab and check the box ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for’ and select Windows 8/8.1 operating system from the drop down menu and proceed with the installation. Once this is done,
restart the computer and check if the issue persists

  3. Loud Audio Until Volume is Adjusted (Realtek Audio Driver)

    Hi Michael,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand the inconvenience caused. I will be glad to assist you with this.

Thank you for mentioning the steps you have tried to resolve the issue. We appreciate your effort.

To better assist you, do let us know the make and model of the computer.

I would suggest you to try using the generic audio driver that comes with Windows.

Here's how: in Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) your audio driver >
Update driver software... > Browse my computer for driver software
    > Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, select
High Definition Audio Device, select Next, and follow the instructions to install it.

Also, try turning off the audio enhancement by following the steps below:

    • Go to Start, enter Sound, and select Sound Control Panel
      from the list of results.

    • On the Playback tab, right-click (or tap and hold) the Default Device
      and select Properties.

    • On the Enhancements tab, select the Disable all enhancements
check box and try to play your audio device.

    • If that doesn't work, select Cancel and, on the Playback
tab, select another default device (if you have one), select the Disable all enhancements check box, and try to play audio again. Do this for each default device.
    Let us know the result.

Audio popping issue on Windows 11

I am having audio popping on Windows 11 when starting/stopping sounds, skipping music/videos, using seekbar in media player, using volume slider and during system sounds like startup, notifications etc. I have tried various things like running audio troubleshooter, changing audio format, enabling/disabling audio enhancements, using microsoft generic drivers, reinstalling audio drivers from laptop site, reinstalling graphic drivers, clean installing both Windows 10 and 11, updating bios and firmware, editing registry to disable power management on realtek audio drivers, changing power plan, minimum processor state etc. This seems to be a widespread bug/issue across various Windows devices.

    Laptop Specs:

    CPU: Ryzen 5 5600H

    GPU: Radeon RX 5500M

    RAM: 16 GB

    OS: Windows 11 22H2
