  1. Windows 11 audio volume slider ignore default audio device

Hi,I am using Windows 11 with 2 audio sources, switching between the two daily Speakers and Headphones. Today I noticed that I can't change the volume of anything that is not my speakers via the volume control. To be precise I can't control my headphone's volume using the built in keyboard audio slider. All it does is just modify my speaker's volume even when it is not active.I tried with another keyboardI tried restarting my pcI tried windows updateI tried using a different plug for my audio sourceNeither of the above worked. If I open up windows audio mixer I can modify there my headphone vo

  2. Set new audio device default for volume mixer in Windows 10

    I use two audio devices:

    • Default (audio) device "Realtec Digital Output (Optical)"
    • Default communication device "Lautsprecher (Speaker)"

    My goal:
I want to have the default audio volume on my default communication device, instead of the default device - at all times.

    What I tried so far:
Changing the volume mixer to my communication device explicitly works temporary, but as soon as I close the settings window, the default audio volume is reset again to the default audio device.

Step 1: Clicking on volume shows me the default device:

Step 2: Changing the volume mixer to my communication device manually:

Step 3: Clicking again on volume does not keep the change Windows 11 audio volume slider ignore default audio device :(

How can I make it permanent that windows uses my communication device for default volume control?

  3. Multiple audio volume control sliders missing upon upgrading to Win10

I have multiple devices outputting (headphones and speakers) audio simultaneously. In Windows 8.1 when left clicking the volume control icon I used to have volume sliders for each of the outputs, now I just see the current default device volume slider. How
do I get back my independent volume sliders?

    Thanks

  4. Windows 11 audio volume slider ignore default audio device

Upgrading to Windows 11 breaks audio volume control

I am also having this issue with a custom-built PC running Windows 11 21H2 22000.556. My sound devices are on-board audio, HDMI audio output, a Corsair Virtuoso headset, and a Corsair ST100 sound device. It doesn't matter which is selected as the default device, the volume knobs on all devices control the volume of just the Virtuoso headset. If I disable the device entirely the volume knob will control whichever is the currently selected device. This is true of the volume knob on my Logitech keyboard and the Virtuoso headset. The volume slider in Windows adjusts the volume of whichever sound device is selected.

The devices are listed in the Sound Control Panel as such:

    Headphones (CORSAIR ST100 Headset Output)

Headset Earphone (CORSAIR VIRTUOSO XT Wireless Gaming Headset) - The one controlled always until the device is disabled in the Control Panel

LG ULTRAGEAR (NVIDIA High Definition Audio)

    Speakers (High Definition Audio Device)

It seems that Windows incorrectly assumes that because I have headphones "plugged in" that I will be using that device. Auto device switching when adding/removing a device is one thing, but when I manually select the preferred device the OS doesn't respect that decision in all aspects.
