Windows 10: Windows 11 Background Apps Issue

Whenever I am watching Youtube on chrome, or in a call on Discord and i am tabbed into another application and go to tab back, its as if the application is unloaded, and i need to wait like 2 seconds, or sometimes click on the screen to have the application reload. This happens with Steam and everything on steam is a black screen, Discord cameras and screenshares are also unloaded and black/gray, and Youtube videos will still play audio but the playback screen will be blacked out. And this is only happening when apps are in the background as if they are being unloaded, it's super annoying when

Hi, have you ever removed Edge?

Sometimes this might happen because there's a MS server issue. However, what you say above suggests something else may be amiss. N.B. after resetting Spotlight as Bree suggests, it may take several days (in my experience) before it starts working again. Please post a screenshot like this:

This is interesting, normally all device under Windows 11 OS usually have the same features/options. Regarding about your case, for us to make sure that we are in the same picture kindly send us a screen recording in what specific part of the settings your referring about this problem.

Meanwhile follow the steps below how to locate Background apps permission:

1. Open settings under Start Menu
   
2. Open Settings then on the left side click Apps
   
3. Select Apps & Features then you need to select a specific Background App (ex. Alarm & Clock/ Calculator)
   
4. Click the 3 Dots on the right then select Advance Options
   

From there you will locate the Background apps permission feature and you have 3 options to Let this app run in background:

• Always
  
• Power optimized (recommended
  
• Never

Windows Mail app background bug

I'm using 21H2 with Mail version 16005.14326.20544.0. I've yet again discovered a more specific way to reproduce this. The issue only appears when the Mail app background is already set to a custom background and then choosing another custom background through the "Browse" button. The issue does not occur if the initial background was a standard one. Sorry but could you please test this final method and let me know?
