    Hi

    I recently upgraded to WIndows 10 and from the first day I am plagued by two major issues.

    1. Windows start up takes excessively long time, almost twice the time it took to load up my previous windows 8.1

    2. The main issue is this, Every couple of minutes two processes ( RunTime Broker , and ,
    From Microsoft Background Task Host ) automatically starts up in the background whether I am doing something on my laptop and makes my CPU run at 50-80% even when there is no other program running on my laptop and is sitting idle. This causes
    my laptop to heat up excessively and I end up having to keep ending task from Task Manager almost every 10-15 minutes.

    I am attaching the screenshot of my Task Manager for reference. If any other info is needed please let me know.

    Tried the two steps like you said.

    1. On Safe Mode start, CPU was at 0%. No issues.

    2. Then on Clean Boot, the same problem was repeated. With RunTIme Broker and From Microsoft Background Task Host taking up atleast 50% CPU resources.

    Now I have it back to Normal mode start up. And yes, the problem still persists !

    Did this help in anyway..? Please do assist me further.

    Hi everyone,

    My question is not altogether new. There are already several threads related to this, including this one:

    Here's how my situation differs: The processes that are causing so much CPU usage, while originating in the same applications (BackgroundTaskHost.exe, BackgroundTransferHost.exe, RuntimeBroker.exe), don't appear to be related to the Photos app:

    What's more, these suggestions of turning the camera and location permissions off...

    ...yeah they're not working for me.

    I think my issue is essentially the same as the one that everyone else is having with some kind of background task host making for excessive CPU usage, but I wonder if anyone else is seeing what I'm seeing, rather than the Photos thing?

    Any new solutions out there (short of deleting those applications, which I'm hesitant to do)?
