  1. Windows 11 backup and restore using Windows 7 backup and restore option.

have a new laptop with win 11 home . I disabled one drive the cloud as much as I could because I don't want my personal information in the cloud. I want to use the windows 7 backup option and I did a system image backup to an external HDD. I want to create a restore DVD and use it to do a system restore if necessary. I want to restore my computer from the system image on my external HDD. How do I do that?

    :)

  2. Windows 7 backup

Haven't used it but sounds like it based on Backup and Restore Center info found here. Says you can choose what files and folders if you want and also mentions a system image. Quicken has it's own backup option under one of the menus, use that too. I have for my mom and it's a breeze. Just reinstall app and use Restore in Quicken.

  3. Reliable backup software for Windows 7?

Here's one good reason why not: no verify option for the backup. Imagine your surprise when you try to restore your data, only to find that it's corrupted. *Cry

    Backup and Restore (Windows 7)

Please show Disk management window for a clarification.

P.S. Please note, this option deprecating was announced only for Windows 8. Backup and Restore (Windows 7) function was removed and discontinued in Windows 8. The Control Panel applet used by Backup and Restore was renamed to Windows 7 File Recovery.

But this function re-appeared in Windows 8.1 with a same name and can be found in Control Panel even in the latest Windows 11 builds and is fully functional and supported.

However, Microsoft hides this applet in Windows 11 and suggests using online backup to OneDrive.

P.P.S. System image backup is a different tool and is not related to Backup and Restore (Windows 7).
