Windows 10: Windows 11 - Bluetooth microphone stops working

Dell Latitude 7440 with Windows 11 23H2 - clean install and all Dell drivers up to date - no software installed. Intel AX211 Bluetooth adapter.Pair a Bluetooth headset and go to the microphone test in Settings and all is well - the VU meter goes up/down based on the volume of my voice. Turn off headphones/put back in case, then reconnect, I will only get output. The microphone does not show up and the test in Settings shows no audio coming from the microphone. To fix this, I either have to re-pair the headset or reboot the computer. This is very repeatable and will do it with any Bluetooth hea

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your Bluetooth microphone on your Windows 11 device.

I would suggest you also try to Check the microphone settings. Please follow the steps below;

a. Right-click the sound icon on the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."

b. Under "Input," select your Bluetooth headset as the default microphone.

c. Check the volume levels and make sure the microphone is not muted.

No microphones work in Windows 11

On my relatively new Windows 11 laptop, no microphone works (anymore). Apps appearantly don't receive any audio data. Microphones did work fine before, but not anymore. Audio output works fine.

Apps affected:

• Microsoft Teams for Work (no audio is sent in calls)
  
• Windows Sound Recorder (when starting a recording, time is stuck at 0:00, and the app crashes when stopping the recording)
  
• System settings app (microphone test)
  

Microphones affected:

• Bose QC45 Bluetooth headset
  
• Realtek PCI notebook integrated microphone
  
• Generic USB audio adapter (USB <-> audio jack)
  
• Jabra USB microphone
  

The external microphones work fine with a different Windows 10 laptop.

In System settings, permissions to access the microphone are granted to all relevant apps.

In System > Sound > Properties, when clicking "Start Test", the sound volume is always 0%.

All Windows updates are installed.

I think there must be a fundamental problem in Windows' sound system. How can I fix this?

 

My microphone stops working after upgrading to Windows 11.

Since I've upgraded my laptop to Windows 11, my microphone has stopped working. When I connected my wired headphone it does not record any sound and even the inbuilt microphone in the laptop showed the same issue. When I connected my Bluetooth earphone the microphone worked but the sound quality is terrible only after I manually disable the microphone by going into settings was I able to improve it.

I have done many things like reinstallying or updating the driver but the issue still persists. Such problems did not happen when using the same hardware in windows 10. Is there is a way to remedy this issue particularly when video conferencing is crucial to work and play? Any suggestions are welcomed?
