Windows 10: Windows 11 Broke MS Filght Simulator

Prior to Microsoft "upgrading" my well equiped Dell XPS 8940 this PC worked very well with MS FS 2020. Now it fails to launch throwing an Event ID 1000 Error with an exception code of Exception code: 0xc0000005 with the Faulting module path: C:\WINDOWS\System32\ucrtbase.dll and Faulting appplication path of Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.26.5.0 I have have done a full set of Windows 11 including wiping out my user data with no change. Microsoft Flight Simulator issue after Windows 10 Upgrade

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.



I suggest you to completely uninstall Microsoft Flight Simulator and check.

Refer the steps below to uninstall.

• Press “Windows key + X”, select Control panel.
• Open programs and features.
• In the list of installed programs, select Microsoft Flight Simulator, and then click
  Remove.

Note: If you have earlier versions of Flight Simulator in the list of installed programs, you will have to remove them in addition to Flight Simulator.



Reinstall the Flight Simulator.

MS Flight Simulator & Windows 10

Since installing Windows 10, I cannot run MS Flight Simulator 2004. I have taken the following steps with no results. The application simply will not load.

I have:

Tried running the program as an Administrator

Used the command line to open my Admin account

Tried running the program in Compatibility Mode

Tried running the Compatibility Mode Troubleshooter

Uninstalled and re-installed the program

Nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

Can not install MS Filght Simulator on Windows 10 Pro

I have a problem installing MS Flight Simulator Gold Edition on Windows 10 Pro 64-bit (clean install, not upgraded from a previous version of Windows).

The first time I was installing FSX I think there were some Windows updates going on since the computer suddenly restarted during the installation (without a prior notification!). After the reboot I tried installing again and got:

Unhandled Exception

Error Number: 0x80040702

Description: Failed to load DLL: GameuxInstallHelper

Setup will now terminate.

I have tried installing the game several times and it is always the same.

I have tried deleting registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Microsoft Games, but it does not exist in the registry.

I have looked for gameuxinstallhelper.dll at Windows\System32 and at Windows\SysWOW64, but it does not exist.

I have also run sfc/scannow that reported: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations", rebooted and tried installing again (without success due to the same error).

I have even tried renaming C:\Program Files (x86)\InstallShield Installation Information and installing FSX as suggested by: http://chrisglobe.co.uk/gameuxinstallerhelper-dll-error-when-re-installing-fsx/, which also did not help.

Are there any other options I can try?
