Windows 10: Windows 11 Calculator App focus problem

Hello everybody, i have this problem with Windows 11 since the windows was avaliable and i updated my license from Windows 10 to 11, i use the default windows calculator and the way i normally open it is by pressing the Windows Key and type ''calc'' on the search bar from start menu, it work perfectly since Windows 7, right after i hit Enter i can start using the num keyboard and start doing the math, the problem is that every single time i open the calc on Windows 11 i have no manualy click on the Calc window or press alt + tab to focus on it otherwise all i try to type goes to the search on

Hello everybody, i have this problem with Windows 11 since the windows was avaliable and i updated my license from Windows 10 to 11, i use the default windows calculator and the way i normally open it is by pressing the Windows Key and type ''calc'' on the search bar from start menu, it work perfectly since Windows 7, right after i hit Enter i can start using the num keyboard and start doing the math, the problem is that every single time i open the calc on Windows 11 i have no manualy click on the Calc window or press alt + tab to focus on it otherwise all i try to type goes to the search on start menu EVEN AFTER IT WAS ALREADY CLOSED, that's super annoying and even being probably a simple thing to solve and doesn't take that much time to just click is very anoying, it worked perfectly and because i open the calculator to do simple maths frequently.

Here is a exemple:

I Pressed Windows Key

Typed "calc"

Hit Enter

Typed "193.75/16"

(Nothing was showing on the Calc Windows)

I hit Windows Key again and there it is, it was typing on the search even after it was already closed and the calc app was the only window on the screen.





That important to point it out:

- I do a clean install of the Windows every single time a big update is released.

- At least once a day i check if there is an update avaliable not only on Windows Update but also on Microsoft Store since this can be a problem on the calc app and not related to Windows itself and everything is updated till now.

- At the time i'm posting this i'm using the build 22621.963 of Windows 11 Pro (but like i sayd i had this problem since Windows 11 day one)

- Isn't a problem related to any other app installed because this happen since the Windows first boot (before i even install the Drivers or apps)

Can somebody give some help to how to solve this problem? Never had this behavior before Windows 11...

There is a workaround. It will both solve the focus issue and the multi instance issue.

• Pin the Calculator App to the taskbar
• Find the Windows Button + Number shortcut assigned to it (let's say it is Wn + 1)
• Go to Mouse and Keyboard Center
• Create a Macro such as Wn (pressed); 10ms; 1; 10ms; Wn(Released)
• Assign it to the key.
• Voilá. It works flawlessly.

The downside is that you now are obliged to keep Calculator pinned to the taskbar, and, of course, if you pin something else on it's place, your Calc button will open something else (that's why 1 is a good choice).
