Windows 10: Windows 11, Can Widgets Be Linked to Open the Edge Beta Browser When You Click On Them...

When I was using Windows 10, one day Edge just stopped working and gave me the message Hmmm...can't reach this page for any web address that I tried. I tried repairing and reinstalling Edge but it just wouldn't work. I downloaded the Edge Beta browser and installed it and it worked just fine so I have just been using Edge Beta. However I just upgraded to Windows 11 and now I find that when I click on a widget, it tries to open Edge and I get the message Hmmm...can't reach this page every time I click on a widget. Does anyone know if there is a way to link the widgets to open Edge Beta i

Hi Ronald, I am Paulo and I'd like to help.

Have you tried restarting the widgets process? If not, press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open the task manager. On the Task Manager window, right-click on Windows Widgets then select End task. Try to re-open widgets and see if the issue is fixed.

If still not working, have you switched to a different browser? The Widgets feature on Windows 11 is closely integrated with MS Edge so issues may arise if you've changed it to something else. Try switching it back and see if that resolves the problem.

If still not working, check your pending updates on the Microsoft Store and update the Windows Web Experience Pack if it is on the list. That's what makes Widgets work properly in Windows 11.

 

edge browser won't open

Please provide more information before we proceed

• Do you facing this issue only with few sites or with all websites?
• Are you getting any error message when try to open?
• Are you able to use other browsers on your system?
• Is the Microsoft Edge Windows opens?

Step 1:

If Microsoft Edge browser opens, I would suggest you try clearing cache and cookies.

Follow the steps below:

• 
  Click on the More actions (…) icon next to the feedback icon present on top right corner of the Project Spartan homepage.
  
• 
  Select Settings and click on
  Choose what to clear.
  
• 
  Check the boxes Browsing history,
  Cookies and saved website data and Cached data and
  files and click on Clear.
  

Step 2: If the browser didn’t opens try running
System File Checker.

System File Checker is a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restore corrupted files.

To perform SFC Scan, refer to the below link:

Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files

Note: Steps mentioned for Windows 8/8.1, will work fine with Windows 10.

Can't open Outlook links in Edge

• What troubleshooting steps have you done?

In the meantime, we suggest that you reset Microsoft Edge. Kindly refer to the steps below:

• Open Microsoft Edge.
• Click on More options […].
• Click on Settings.
• Click on ‘Choose what to clear’.
• Select all of them and click on Clear all.
