Windows 10: Windows 11 cannot find external DVD Drive

Asus DVD drive is plugged in and powers up and spins. It works fine when plugged into a different windows 10 machine, so it is not the drive.It worked previously on this current windows 11 machine and stopped working after an update. I have been through multiple attempts to repair following the latest help guidelines. I have tried the Hexi updates. I do not even have the option of an Itapi device on Device manager. I have attempted to get into the Bios and can see nothing that says external devices or DVD drive. The pc it is plugged into is a Minisforum micro pc and it is only a

I would suggest you to open the device manager and check if the drive shows up in device manager.

Follow the steps given below:

1. Press Windows key + R to open the run command.

2. Type devmgmt.msc and press enter to open device manager.

3. Expand DVD/CD-Rom drives and check if the external DVD drive is listed.

4. If so, right click on it and uninstall it.

5. Restart the computer.

windows 11 dvd external drive

I have a HP Envy laptop. Since installing Windows 11, I am no longer able to play DVDs on my external drive. Windows Explorer sees the drive but neither VLC or Leawo can actually play the disk. HP Support tells me this is a Windows 11 issue.
