Windows 10: Windows 11 - Check HDMI-In Cable message

My HP Pavilion PC was updated to Windows 11 late last year and seemed to work fine afterwards. I did not use it for most of December 2024, but when I switched it on in January 2025 I was met with a black screen and the message 'Check HDMI-In Cable!'.Also on the screen there is a power icon in the bottom left-hand corner and three other icons in the bottom right corner. My mouse is connected by USB and does not function as a pointer does not appear. The screen disappears and the computer switches off after about 60 seconds.The HP Pavilion is an all-in-one PC; it does not have any external devic

HDMI Cable

For us to isolate your concern with the HDMI cable, we would like to know the following:

• Were there any changes made on your computer prior to the issue (e.g., updates, software installation)?
• Is this the first time you experienced the issue?
• Are you getting any error messages? If yes, What is the exact error message?
• Have you tried using your HDMI to other devices? If yes, what is the result?
• To make sure that we have not missed on anything, what troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

HDMI cable not detected by computer

I want to connect to a monitor or TV with HDMI. No signal to either. Monitor says "no signal coming from your computer".

I have tried with no success:

• HDMI directly into Nvidia 980 HDMI slot
  
• HDMI directly into motherboard slot, Intel i6700k with integrated graphics
  
• HDMI indirectly into HDMI(female)-to-Displayport(male) adapter, into Nvidia 980 Displayport slots
  

I have verified:

• Cable plugged into second computer, connected fine to monitor and TV
  
• Tried different HDMI cable, same results on both computers
  
• Displayport slots on Nvidia 980 work on monitor with DP-mDP cable
  
• Both monitor and TV are 4k. Output is 4k on other computer, and 4k using Displayport on this computer.
  
• Used newest graphics driver for Nvidia 980
  
• Used old graphics driver (2020) for Nvidia 980
  

All cases, other computer connected successfully and this computer received "no signal"

Other than the hardware checks and the driver checks, I am not sure what other steps I should try.

Since it applies to both Nvidia 980 and motherboard, and since Displayport works but HDMI through Displayport doesn't work, I feel like there is some issue in the computer working with HDMI signals.

Why exactly is ATi considered be better at HDMI?

I plug my HDMI cable into the card, then into my TV. Those are the steps that I have to do. All the steps you list make absolutely no sense to me.
