Windows 10: Windows 11 checkboxes sporatically get turned on

I'm thinking this is a bit of a dead horse, but the check boxes periodically just appear in Windows 11 file explorer on my desktop. The "show" dialog says they aren't turned on, but enabling and re-disabling them doesn't work. Restarting makes them go away again. I did find one ugly work around. Open task manager and end task for explorer.exe I generally find there is more than one instance. The last one generally kills File Explorer and Task Manger. Now hit control-alt-delete and select Task Manager. Task Manger give you the option to "Run new command". Do this and enter "explorer.ex

Yes, if that is a convertible, you cannot disable checkboxes. Not sure if it is a bug or by design.
