    Windows 11 continues to set Edge as default browser after every reboot.


    I've gone into Windows 11 settings and manually set Opera as my default browser and verified that Opera is set as default for .pdf, .htm and .html files. However, every time I reboot, the browsing related defaults are set back to Edge.This misbehavior has only started in the last few days. How do I smack Windows 11/Edge into submission so I can set Opera as my current browser of choice? note: Win 11, Edge, and Opera have the latest updates applied.

    The information which you have provided is not enough for us to determine the issue. Please provide us more information.

    • Does this issue happens while you try to set other browser as default too or is it specific to specific browser?


    To set Internet Explorer/Edge as a default browser, I suggest you to follow the below given steps:



    • Press Windows key and type Default Program in search and hit enter.
    • Select "Set your default programs"
    • Click on “Internet Explorer" or “Edge”.
    • Select "Set this program as default” and Click OK.

    How to set Microsoft Edge as default browser.

    Hi,

    I would suggest you to try the steps below and check again.

    1. Press Windows key + I to open settings.

    2. Click System and click default apps.

    3. Click web browser and select Microsoft edge.

    Hi Jodi,

    Incorrect browser settings is one of the possible reason why you're getting a pop up message it is not set. Kindly follow these steps to set Firefox as your default browser:

    • Go to Settings.
    • Select System.
    • Click Default apps.
    • Scroll down and look for Web browser. In this case, the icon will say either Microsoft Edge or Choose your default browser.
    • Choose an app screen, select Firefox to set it as the default browser.
    • Close the windows to save your changes.
    • Then restart your PC.

    We would appreciate an update about how it went.
