Windows 10: windows 11 Desktop shortcuts opens folder location, not the folder.

Hi,i have created many folders on my destop. Today I decided to move them to their correct location in "Documents" and replace them with shortcuts on the desktop. Some had aldeady been done., or a shortcut had already been created, linked to the folder in"documents".This is what I did:1. Moved the folder from Destop to Documents2. Created a shortcut, withiin Documents, to the folder3. Dragged the shortcut to the Desktop.FileI repeated this for all the folders on my desktop.I now find that, when I click on the destop link, instead of the required folder opening, File Explorer opens with the r

Vista Ultimate - 'User' Folder Location

No tried that.

Can copy the entire folder to D; but Windows still points to C as the location. Can change personal folders location to a folder on D;, but this still leaves hidden files etc on C;. Thus meaning there are 2 Users folders. Have managed to change the Public folder location to D;, with some registry tweaks, but this doesnt seem to work for the entire folder.

any more suggestions

 

Cant open shortcut folder.

i have the following problem after upgrading to to windows 10.. when i try to attach a file to my email that is located in a folder that is a shortcut, the folder does not open. I am not trying to email a shortcut, but a file that is located inside that
shortcut. When i get the box that asks me what file i want to open, i double click on that folder but nothing happens. I can attach any file that is not located on a shortcut folder.

The folder does open fine if i just click on it from my desktop.. i just cannot get outlook to open the folder so i can select the files that i need.

Symlink shortcut changes when folder renamed

I have recreated your concern by going through these steps. Please let me know if we are on the same understanding about the issue:

1. On the Start menu, I typed %appdata% and then hit
   Enter.
   
2. I created a folder under AppData and named it Test.
3. Right-clicked the newly created folder and select Sent to > Desktop (create a shortcut) to create a shortcut.
4. Renamed the folder to Test2.
5. Go to the desktop. Double-clicked the shortcut and it was able to locate the renamed folder. (This is working as designed).

Just to clarify, do you want the shortcut folder to not be able to open/locate the folder when you renamed it?
