My external 2.1 Klipsch Promedia 2.1 speakers are detected as headphones after windows has been updated to 11 and the sound quality was a little bit low. When I select speakers as a default output device, it switches to laptop speakers which sounds terrible. Is there a way to fix this issue? My laptop model is Dell Inspiron 7501 with an onboard Realtek audio card.

    :)

  2. Laptop with sound with only 1 3.5mm jack

I want to connect headphones with microphone (two 3.5mm cables, 1 for audio out and 1 for microphone) in to a single audio hole to the laptop using a splitter. I also want to connect speakers together aswell. I'm using 3.5mm jack to 2 3.5mm jacks splitter x 2. So i have 4 outputs to connect devices to. But the problems came by.

  3. Laptop with sound with only 1 3.5mm jack

    Just to clarify:

You want to connect a microphone and speakers to the single 3.5mm jack on your PC. However, when you use the splitter that came with your headset, the speaker volume is low because your sound driver thinks you've connected a headset. Or do you want to connect a headset and speakers to the jack simultaneously?

I'm guessing you have a laptop. What model do you have? Your driver may have a setting to tell it what is actually connected.

External speakers are not detected properly

The problem is that they are not detected as a separate audio device, like say a pair of headphones. The speakers have a 3.5 mm headphone jack and use the USB port only for power. When I insert the jack, sound do comes out through them but the system thinks that they are the internal speakers of the laptop. So it uses the same volume level, which for the external speakers is too loud compared to the laptops own speakers. What I want is for the system to see the headphone jack separate from the internal speakers and use different volume levels for the two devices. Such a thing I know is possible because is worked on Windows 8.1.
