Windows 10: Windows 11 display settings for multiple monitors doesn't stick

"I have a Lenovo ThinkPad X1 GEN 8 running Windows 11 Pro.I can set my display settings only use the extended monitor, and it works when I do it.However, if I unplug the monitor for my computer and then plug it in later, both monitors display, my computer and external monitor, when I only want the external monitor

You may want to answer these questions to get more clarity on this issue:

1. May I know the make and model of the PC?
   
2. Did you try updating your display driver?
   
3. Are you getting any error message?
   

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Steps 1:

1. Go to settings
   
2. Click on “System"
   
3. Then click on Display
   
4. Move your mouse to the monitor that needs to be set as primary and check the box
   "Make this my main display"
   
5. Under "Multiple displays" select "Duplicate these displays"
   
6. Then select “Keep this display settings”
   

Once you make these changes, you may restart the computer and check.

Mouse cursor sticks to edge of only 2 of the 3 multiple monitors (Windows 11)

I understand that you are facing issues related to mouse cursor movement on multiple displays



In order to get clarity and to assist you accordingly, please reply with the answers to the questions below:

1. What is the make and model number of your PC?
   
2. What kind of cable do you use to connect the monitors?
   
3. Are you aware of any recent changes on the PC prior to this issue?
   

Meanwhile, I would suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

Update or reinstall the mouse drivers from Mice and other pointing devices section in device manager

Update drivers in Windows (microsoft.com)

Once done, try to re-arrange the monitors and check if the issue persists

New User Account

If the issue persists, I would also suggest you to create a new user account with administrative rights and check if the issue persists. Creating a new user account will not remove any data, app or settings from your current user account, this is just a troubleshooting step to eliminate the possibility of user profile corruption. Windows 10 - Mouse cursor sticks to edge between multiple monitors

I did get a suggestion that worked: Open the Display settings, use you mouse to drag either the leftmost or right most monitor icon (I have two monitors and a laptop, which is the center monitor) away from the center monitor icon, then release. That forces
the icon to 'snap back' to the center monitor icon. The cursor stops sticking after you do that. If I disconnect the laptop to travel, etc., the problem sometimes reoccurs but is corrected by just repeating the steps. .
