Windows 10: Windows 11 Enterprise license activation issue

Our organization recently purchased brand new Lenovo desktops and laptops that come with Windows 11 Pro edition through the factory image. We image them all through SCCM using a custom Windows 11 enterprise v22H2 image captured from a reference virtual machine. After image process is completed, Windows updates are performed to install the latest updates and then PCs rebooted. Afterwards, we observe that the edition changes from Enterprise to Pro.We are utilizing the KMS license keys published on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service webiste under our organization's account. Windows 11 Home to Windows 11 Enterprise

Hi There,

I bought a laptop which was pre-installed with Windows 11 Home.

Our company received our latest activation keys for Windows 11 Enterprise and I need to upgrade to it.

I am battling to find any info on upgrading from 11 home to 11 Enterprise. Searching around I only found info on how to upgrade to Pro edition and one post suggesting that upgrading from Home to Enterprise requires new installation of Windows 11 Enterprise,

I already have valid and licensed O365, Visual Studio etc. installed and configured and would not want to redo all of it.

Will running changepk.exe with Enterprise product key successfully upgrade to Enterprise?

Will inserting the new product key simply upgrade to Enterprise?

Help on this will be appreciated.

 

Failing to activate windows 11 Enterprise (fresh install) with windows 11 enterprise key

Already for some years I have been using windows 10 enterprise. Recently I decided to upgrade to windows 11 using a fresh install after I found that windows 10 license keys should also work with windows 11. Before doing the installation I used regedit to retrieve the license key (Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\SoftwareProtectionPlatform, BackupProductKeyDefault).

I used the windows 11 enterprise ISO and followed the installation steps for a clean install. When I now try to activate the windows version using my license key, I get a message that the key doesn't work:

"The product key that you entered didn't work. Check the product key and try again, or enter a different one (0xc004f050)".

I also tried entering the key with the slmgr -ipk command, that also gives an error message:

"Error: 0xC004F069 On a computer running Microsoft Windows non-core edition, run 'slui.exe 0x2a 0xC004F069' to display the error text." -> "The Software Licensing Service reported that the product SKU is not found".

Is there something I am doing wrong here?

 

Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade

Want to upgrade 11 Home to 11 Pro. Tried download, but apparently files transferred were for 11 Enterprise. This will not activate; error is "invalid digital license or product key". This is on a new Surface. How to proceed?

Can withdraw/delete this. The suggestion to downgrade - listed below - with a 'fake' windows 10 key works.
