I use my laptop at home and the office, in each location I have an external keyboard with different configurations, FRA and PORThe problem is that whenever I lock the PC, when I log back in; the keyboard goes back to the default one.How can I set it so that it maintains the last one used?

Windows 10 Enterprise - Changing Default Keyboard Setting

The settings for choosing which keyboard is the default have changed quite a bit between W10 versions, but there has been one constant. If you add and remove keyboards, whatever is at the top of the list will be the default. So remove all keyboards except the one you want as default, then add the others back again.

 

Numlock defaults to off


To enable NUM LOCK before a user logs on, follow these steps:

• Run Registry Editor.
• Move to HKEY_USERS\.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard

How do I turn off suggestions on Touch Keyboard on Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2?

How do I turn off suggestions on Touch Keyboard on Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2. There appears to be no setting that applied to the Touch Keyboard. The setting Time & Language => "Show Text Suggestions when typing on the physical keyboard" does not affect the Touch Keyboard, only the On-Screen keyboard and physical keyboard.

There is no setting under Time & Language =>Touch Keyboard that applies to suggestions. The only settings under Time & Language are "Play key sounds as I type", "Capitalize the first letter of each sentence", "Add a period after I double-tap the spacebar" and "Show the voice typing mic button".

An important custom tablet application (that works perfectly on Windows 10 Surface Pro tablet) malfunction when run on Windows 11 Surface Pro tablet, because the Touch Keyboard suggestions interferes with textbox autocomplete. The autocomplete does not fire when the suggestions are turned on, on the Touch keyboard. I.e. the event with a custom query used in app to populate a dropdown with suggestions does not fire, because the keyboard suggestions "steals" the event.

When disabling the Touch Keyboard and instead using the On-Screen Keyboard, with suggestions turned off, on the Windows 11 tablet, the app functions perfectly. But when using the Touch Keyboard, where I can't turn off the suggestions, the app malfunctions - no suggestions populate in the app via the custom query and textbox autocomplete.

Please do not reply how to turn this off on Windows 10, the setting on Windows 10 is not the same as on Windows 11, I know how to turn off the suggestions on Windows 10 and the app works fine on Windows 10 Surface Pro tablet. But there seem to be no way to turn this off in Windows 11, not via settings and not via registry.

I have asked this question on numerous forums, and all replies have referred to settings in Windows 10, or some settings that are not available in Windows 11 Enterprise 22H2. I have also asked Windows 11 "experts" when attending Microsoft conference, they were also stumped by this and knew of no way to turn off the suggestions.

The application is used in many cafeterias to register meals for employees. If we can't turn off suggestions on the Touch Keyboard we can't upgrade our old Surface Pro tablets without first rewriting the application - which seems like a waste of time as it is working perfectly on Windows 10.
