Constant BSODs with Ryzen and Windows 10 Creators

Yep, showing BIOS code 40 is 100% sure to give a BSOD. A0 seems good and stable. I cannot find anything on what BIOS code 40 is or what it does. A reboot seems to fix the issue, and makes the system go to an A0 code. That seems to be the problem, so maybe I have a bad motherboard or BIOS? Rock stable with A0 code.

The event log viewer gives the following errors: The server

{A463FCB9-6B1C-4E0D-A80B-A2CA7999E25D}did not register with DCOM

within the required timeout.

Slow application start from Windows 10 menus and shortcuts

Thanks for the prompt response.

Your questions first...

• Aside from applying the updates, have you made any significant changes like installing or downloading any programs to your computer that may have triggered the issue?
• Yes. I uninstalled Ms SQL Server 2014 and installed Ms SQL Server 2017 + the management studio. All database functions are running normally. The management studio suffers the same fate as other applications; it takes 60 seconds to start up.
• Have you checked if there are any other pending updates for Windows 10?
• Yes. No Windows updates. I have applied 2 or 3 windows defender updates today. No apparent issues with those. I have noticed though, that the Defender shield is not in my system tray. In "Settings" it shows as running and no problems.
• To remove any possibilities of unsuccessful updates, are you using any third-party antivirus programs?
• No. I use Ms Defender only
• If yes, have you tried to disable them and see if the performance will show any difference?
• n/a
• Can you also confirm if after disabling third-party antivirus programs and checking any pending updates will help?
• n/a

I have been working on this issue and can see the following event log entries that correspond to the time when I start an application. The event time is when the application finally shows...

The server {A463FCB9-6B1C-4E0D-A80B-A2CA7999E25D} did not register with DCOM within the required timeout.

In my registry, the only entry with that GUID that has text refers to “SmartScreen”. The GUID is in several other entries with a key of “ProxyStubClsid32”.

The DCOM timeout would explain the regular 60 second time it takes to start an application.

I have checked my DCOM configuration and the settings are “normal”. I have an application that uses DCOM to another machine and that is working; after the 1 minute startup delay.

Is there a utility to search for and repair the system file corruption you refer to?

Regards
