    Windows 11 explorer keeps crashing when I try to open a certain folder


    Hi,Windows explorer keeps crashing and I can't open a certain folder.The folder is images that I have saved from a AI program. I am thinking it's because I saved some of the images as the actual prompt which made the file name too long from what Ihave researched. I'm not sure if that is the problem but it makes sense since it's 2 folders with saved AI images in them. All other folders open just fine. It's just the 2 folders with the Ai imagesin them. Is there any way to open these folders to change the files to a shorter name so I don't lose the images in the folder ?Thank you Tammy Ps

    Windows 10 Tweaks

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Windows explorer crashing

    Hi,

    I am having the same problem as the OP in this thread.
    Windows Explorer crashes whenever I open my external HDD or thumb drive in explorer..

    I have tried the fixes listed in the above thread and I am getting the same error message as 'ktadie' (post 16). I think this is because I am running Windows 7 Professional. Windows explorer crashes when I open my 'Films' folder on my brand new 2tb external HDD. I have about 300 .avi files in this folder and some of the .avi files are several years old.

    In short I believe I need the same fix given by 'Wile E' (post 7) but updated for Windows 7 Professional.
