Windows 10: Windows 11 File Explore Search Issue

In the past, I was able to find a file by finding a match in any of the characters of a file. For instance, before I can find this file named "20220518_135209.jpg" if I typed in"209", "520", "518", or any matching strings of characters within the file name. Now, this file only shows up if I type in the starting characters of the file name or anything after the underscore such as "2022" or "135". Also, File Explorer is also running really slow with right clicks and such. Any help would be appreciated!

File Explorer Search Not Working


I am trying to search in File Explorer (Windows Explorer, My Computer) and it will not find anything. I can copy text from a name in the list and paste it in the search box and it still finds nothing. I have looked at the suggestions that have been posted and nothing I find that is relative to this works. Anyone have any suggestions? I am running Win 10 Pro on an I3 coustom desktop computer.

 

Windows Explorer not searching docx file contents

Hi all,

Recently Windows Explorer stopped finding .docx files when I search for a specific word. I know that these files contain the words that I am searching for, and I have tried lots of things:

• "Search in file contents" is enabled
  
• .docx files are set to have names and contents indexed
  
• I've tried rebuilding the index
  
• I tested the search on other file types, and it returns results for seemingly everything except .docx files
  
• I tried upgrading to Windows 11 to see if this would fix the issue, but it did not
  

I would really appreciate any suggestions, as being able to search file contents is very important for my studies.

  What is the Windows 10 Version and Build installed? (Type
  winver in Windows search/Run command)
  
• 
  Have you tried restarting your computer?
  
• Are you aware of any changes on the PC prior to this issue?

Meanwhile, we would suggest you to refer these methods and check.



Method 1:
Restore File Explorer to default.

1. 
   Open
   File Explorer and click on View tab from the top.
   
2. 
   Click the arrow below
   Options and select Change folder and search options.
   
3. 
   Under
   General tab, click on Restore Defaults.
   
4. Click
   Ok and relaunch File Explorer.
