    Windows 11 File Explorer Clear Search - Multiple Clicks?!


    On windows 10 when I was swearching for a particular file I could click in the search bar, press control+V to paste what I was searching for, then press on the Blue arrow to show the results. Then as I needed to search something different, you could simply click on the "X" next to that blue arrow and it clears the search field so that I can now past my new search query. But now on windows 11, when I click that X, it brings up a dropdown menu, then when I click the X a second time, it now autofills the complete file name of what I was PREVIOUSLY searching, and FINALLY the 3rd click on the X wil

    File explorer search history is not clearing


    Hi

    I have gone through all the steps in the following thread, but my file search history is not clearing or updating. Search terms clear, but the old search reappears with deleted files on it.

    File explorer search box history dispears after click Quick access

    Windows 10 version 20h2

    Steps to reproduce:

    1. Open file explorer

    2. type something in search box

    3. clear search box

    4. click search box again, you will see a drop down list showing recent search history

    5. click the Quick access which is located at the top of file explorer Navigation pane

    6. click search box again, it does not show the history list anymore

    I have to close file explorer and open it again to get the search history back.

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
