    Windows 11 File Explorer Freezing Frequently After Recent Update – Any Fixes?


    Hello everyone,I’m running Windows 11 Version 23H2 on my laptop, and ever since the last cumulative update June 2025 Patch Tuesday, I believe, I’ve been experiencing constant issues with File Explorer. It freezes randomly, especially when I try to access folders with a large number of files or open quick-access shortcuts. Sometimes it unfreezes after 10–15 seconds, but other times I have to manually restart File Explorer from Task Manager to get it working again.This issue started immediately after the update, so I suspect it may be related. I’ve tried the following steps but haven’t had a

    that's all off already dude lol, I'm really surprised there is no fix for the recent files list/MRU in the file menu of programs haha

    I appreciate the help, MS really needs to implement a Group Policy or a string that can do that for all programs installed

    Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

    Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK
