Windows 10: Windows 11 file explorer is crippled, help me get old functions back!

Hi, I remember windows commander, then various versions of file explorer.The new one in Windows 11 is crippled to say the least and I frigging hate it to no end. Msoft has been dumbing down windows gradually and this has removed utility and functionality that is going to cost me HOURS of work when it used to take seconds.For lack of vocabulary, I want back the tabs Name, Date installed, ... esp. PATH. I cannot function in the new file explorer... and it is hard to refrain from getting toxic about the people who made the decisions to remove this capabilityPlease: I am hoping that someon

Windows Explorer crashes and thumbnails problem

Hi, I hope you can help me.
Windows Explorer is no longer showing thumbnails on files played by Windows Media Player. I've run cmd and regsvr32 shmedia.dll and regsvr32 shimgvw.dll. That seemed to solve the problem...but it created a different one. Now when I try to open a folder on an external hard drive it crashes. I read in an old 2008 post it was an avi file causing the problem and suggested the run cmd regsvr32 /u shmedia.dll. That solved the opening problem but recreated the thumbnail problem. Any help to achieve both functions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Autocomplete in File Explorer in Windows 11

Hi, I am Dave, I will help you with this.

The search function in Windows 10 and 11 has been broken for some time, and every time they try to fix is, then it seems to get worse especially in the new File Explorer app in Windows 11 and as you have seen that has caused the auto-complete function and previous search list are now missing.

There is a new version of File Explorer meant to be included in the big October update that adds new functionality, so hopefully in that version of File Explorer, they may have resolved some of the bugs in the File Explorer search
