Windows 10: windows 11 file explorer is slow to open files, hangs, acts weird

i am a senior so bear with me. i have a frustrating issue with Windows 11 file explorer. i thought it was a problem with dropbox, and after hours of remote accessing, the problem still occurs. HELLLLPPPPP!when i call microsoft support for business, i get shuffled off to aka.ms to enter my own ticket. i cannot complete this b/c i dont have a support contract?I bought my machine from dell, with windows 11 loaded. dell has been less that helpful in the recent past, so i would rather not contact them if i dont have to.i have searched thru google for answers - many are too technical for me. Exe file slow to open

Possible... I had Kaspersky and ZoneAlarm, both, on different machines & times, misbehavin' and had to re-install them to set them right.
Even after cleaning them out and re-setting them; they would still bog the file access times down and cause Windows Explorer (not ie) to be slow on opening and accessing, until re-installed.

If he turns off real-time detection it will not make any difference, as he has already been opening the file... he would/should have gotten an alert or warning if there were a problem with the file he is testing with.

Probably not; but, how much ram?
What version of Windows?
Where is you swap file located? What size?
How full are your drives?
What processor?
Have you got the latest firmware for your SSD?
Are your drivers up to date?
Is your MB bios current?

Is the file an installation file, video file, etc? Does it use compression?

You need to goto User CP and put your system info there and then check the box to show the specs. The info will go a long way in helping some to diagnose your possible problem(s).

• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Windows 11 file explorer is slow, lagging, hangs!

Hi,

I have a very strong PC with Samsung 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Intel i7-9700K, 32GB Memory and ASUS ROG Strix Z390-H Gaming.
When my PC was on Windows 10 there was no problem with File Explorer but after upgrading to Windows 11 I am facing a problem with file explorer slow, lagging, hangs even when just renaming a file.
Only full PC restart is solving the problem for a short time.

How to solve this problem on windows 11 please?
