Windows 11: File Explorer lags on file access through program

There were several reports in this community about File Explorer lagging, but none matched the issue that I am experiencing. It is most noticeable when downloading a file using Firefox, Edge or Chrome.Process:I click "download file" on a random website, let's say the Microsoft logo on the top left of this page "download image". The download location prompt opens, I immediately press enter to confirm the location. For the next 3-5 seconds, the browser is mostly unresponsive. I can only scroll the current tab Chrome, but I can not interact or switch the tab. When I click somewhere, no sound i

  2. Lagging File Explorer

    How old is your HDD?

If it is starting to fail (e.g. developing dodgy blocks/sectors) you can experience long delays when you try to access files on it.

Regardless of its age, I would suggest that you immediately backup your:
    • Personal files
    • Driver installers
    • Program installers and keys

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    File Explorer Scroll Lag

Hello, I just did this and still the lagging continues. I want to point out that the lag occurs only when I scroll with the mouse, when I click and scroll the lag does not occur.
