Windows 10: Windows 11 Firewall - Technical Differences between Profiles

Hello!I have a query regarding Windows firewall on Win 11, which stems from trying to troubleshoot connectivity to a networked audio device. Long story short, the audio device Dante controller software on the Win 11 device to a Dante hardware device is only discovered properly if the network connection firewall profile is set to Private or Domain. The user using the device likes to connect the device to their laptop directly ethernet to ethernet, no switch in between and so the laptop and audio device both get APIPA addresses and the Windows Firewall connection profile defaults to Public.

For you to be able to get to your firewall, please follow the steps below:

• Go to start Button.
• Open Windows defender Security Center.
• Then go to Firewall & network protection.
• Then choose a network profile.

System file corruption is one of the possible reasons why you're not able to launch Settings on your computer. To better assist you, please answer the following:

• Are there any changes made on your computer prior to this issue?
• Are you getting any error messages when trying to launch Settings
  in your PC?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest creating a Test User Profile. This is to see if the same issue occurs on a different user profile.

To create a Test User Profile, follow these steps:

• On Search, type Settings then hit the
  Enter key.
• On Settings window, select Accounts.
• Select Family & other people.
• Select Add someone else to this PC.
• Name the User Profile as TEST.
• Assign a password for TEST user, then select Next.
• Sign in TEST user.
