Windows 10: Windows 11 - Folders appearing on desktop

As the title says, all my folders that are located in my "desktop" area in files keep on appearing on my desktop/where your shortcuts are normally at. I find this really annoying dont judge me lol but i don't want the folders appearing on my desktop, i tried to delete them but they would delete the files in the desktop folder itself. This was never a problem on my old windows 10 laptop. How do i disable this or get rid of it?

From the description of the issue, I understand that desktop icon shortcuts does not appear in the Desktop folder in Windows 10.

Before proceeding, please check if the same issue occur when logged in through a different user account.

This issue may happen due to system file corruption. I suggest you to run System file checker. System File checker (SFC) scan is done to check if there are any corrupted system files that could be causing this issue. Kindly follow
the below given steps:

• 
  Press Windows key + X, select
  Command prompt (Admin) to bring up elevated Command prompt.
  
• 
  In Command prompt type
  sfc/scannow and press enter.
  
• Restart the computer.

If no corrupted system files were found in the previous state, then I suggest you to try the following steps:

• 
  Open command prompt by pressing Windows key + X and selecting “Command prompt admin”.
  
• 
  In command prompt, type the following commands and press Enter after each command:
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
  
  DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
  

• 
  Close the command prompt and restart the PC and check if it works.

Strange folder appears listed under desktop

I think you're fine. I think you've just noticed the UsersFilesFolder , a virtual folder ( like Network, This PC, etc. ) that seems to mirror the contents of the user's profile folder.

Quick Test:

• In the EXplorer Address bar or a Run dialog, type: shell:UsersFilesFolderEnter

If that command opens the same folder you juist noticed, everything is fine.

It's normally always visible when viewing the rooted Desktop in Explorer:






It has this special icon:




The icon can be shown or hidden on the Desktop via:

• Settings >Personalization > Themes and clicking the Desktop icons settings link

Does this mean they are both taking up space on the hdd.
