Windows 10: Windows 11 Gaming Laptop doesn’t like my Canon PowerShot G2

Okay.. so this is kind of an odd subject considering I’m asking about a literal 23 year old camera but.. I know my computer at least can tell there’s a camera plugged in. And I apologize I don’t have images. But when looking at the devices plugged in, we’ve got my keyboard and mouse so that’s all cool, but it does say the camera, except it says “Drivers Unavailable”.. I also can’t format it or erase it because there’s very very important pictures it was my grandparents and there’s pictures dating back to 2007. so how do I access the images? It doesn’t appear in my files explorer. Does the Ca

Transfering photos from Canon PowerShot

Cannot transfer photos from Canon PowerShot to desktop in Windows 10. Could do it in Windows 7 but have now changed to Windows 10 (Big Mistake!). Thinking about reinstalling Windows 7. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Windows 10 won't let Canon Powershot be default editor

The latest Windows 10 update of 6/15/17 changed the settings for my Canon Powershot SX620. It took me hours to figure out how to even get the photos to upload from the camera to the computer.

The update removed the ability to edit through the Canon program and I don't want to use the Windows photo editor. It is clearly not as good of a program.

I have looked all through settings, devices and so on and cannot find anywhere to make the Canon program a default. The programs show on the apps list but not on the choices lists. It's very frustrating because I have photos I want to edit and I can't
do it.

All was fine until that blasted unnecessary update.

I downloaded the Canon driver again in case this was the issue and it was not.

Any suggestions?

Canon PowerShot Camera Driver will not download

Hi,

There are some security settings on your browser that might cause to a failed download. For us to identify the root cause of this issue, we would like to know these questions:

• Which browser are you using to download the driver from Canon's support website?
• Have you encountered any error messages?
• What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?

In the meantime, we suggest that you get the downloaded driver from your other laptop and save it to a USB flash drive. After that, plug in the USB flash drive to your laptop that's having an issue. Then, try to install the driver to your laptop.
