Following the weekly update last week, system drive complained and ran a couple of CHKsdk over 2 or 3 days, Then system drive bricked, with desktop stuck in a crash reboot loop, with 0002e3 BSOD. I tried variuous repair options from USB distribution image, The disk is alive and all the data is readable. Dism scanhealth tesll me the store is repairable, but this is as far as I managed to get.

Boot linux on USB drive

it might just be that your bios doesn't support it, but it should anyway.

make sure you go into the bios and make sure "boot other device" is enabled and try seeing if the usb is listed as an hdd.. as bootable flash drives are usually picked up as usb hdd's and check if your bios detects the flash drive.

 

Booting from USB on x38 Motherboard, NOT?

Typically the USB should be listed under the hard drive boot order. Set your "Boot Device Priority" to HDD first, then set the hard drive boot order to the USB stick first.
