Windows 10: windows 11 hdmi monitor sound stopped working

Hi. I was using my laptop with 4k monitor and with speakers but all of a sudden I lost sound hdmi output. I can see the volume bar is reacting when there is a sound at the background but no sound coming out of my speakers. Tried deleting nvidia experince and windows installed older driver but not worked.Laptop speakers works fine but I want to use my monitor.edit. I am using same setup with my xbox and its working fine

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

• When will the sound disable, when playing through main monitor or the extended monitor?
• Did you try enabling the sound from the sound drivers and check if it helps?
• Since from when are you facing this issue?

This issue causes because the monitor automatically takes the HDMI sound as the Default input. Disable and enable the speakers and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Right click on the volume control and then
  Properties,
• When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.
• You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

Hdmi sound not working

HDMI Port Stopped Working

I generally use a second monitor via an HDMI cable while working. However, it stopped working today.

I checked these:

• Windows cannot detect a second monitor when HDMI cable is connected to the second monitor.
• HDMI cable which I use works if another device is connected to the second monitor.
• My computer detects my HDMI-to-VGA converter through HDMI port.

My computer runs Windows 10 Home with latest updates installed.

I suspect this is due to a driver error. How can I fix this problem?
