Windows 10: Windows 11 hibernation crashs laptop - USB device draining system power when system is idle

Hi,I have the same problem like discussed here with Windows 11 and Dell 7706 with Dell WD19. Hibernation could not be reached. High Idle power consumption

Hi,

A laptop in idle still drains the battery. It can be one of the lists below are the reasons why your discharging faster.

• The power plan is on High-Performance. It consumes more energy because it maximizes the computer's usage. Toggle it as Balanced by going to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options.

• Too many background applications running. We can check this by going to Windows Settings > System > Battery saver > Battery usage by app. You can set adjust the settings of your battery there as well. Also, please follow the tips on the window on how you
  can manage your battery.
• You use the second graphics card as your display to an external monitor.
• Using sleep mode instead of hibernate mode. Hibernate mode is advisable to use when stepping away from the device for very long.

In addition to this, you can run the automatic troubleshooter to
find and fix problems with your computer's power settings to conserve power and extend battery life.

Battery drain in Hibernation after installing "Lenovo - System - 10.0.127.0" on Windows 10 2004

Last night, the batter drained too much again, about 8% in 13 hours, in hibernation mode. This time I, however, have a Logitech Unifying USB plugged in during the hibernation. The previous tests with the new Lenovo Power Manager driver version 10.0.127.0
were done without the Logitech Unifying USB.





It appears that the battery drains too much in hibernation mode between 2:00 am and 11:00 am and drains a little in the afternoon.

Update on 2020-06-23:

I kept the machine in hibernation mode for ~12 hours, after 02:00 am yesterday, without any USB devices plugged in, the battery drain was near 0% today. So the Lenovo Power Manager driver 10.0.115.0 seems to be good in this battery drain metric.

All the above tests were done using the hardware power button assigned to the Hiberate function

Update on 2020-06-29:

I put the laptop in Shut down mode for 80.7 hours, using Shut down software button (Application API), the batter drain was 3%. Lenovo Power Manager driver's version is 10.0.115.0.

Update on 2020-06-30:

The laptop was put in hibernation using Hibernate software button (Application API) for 8.7 hours, the battery drain was 6%. Lenovo Power Manager driver's version is 10.0.115.0. Hence, the hardware power button and software API button for hibernation made
different battery draining results: 0% vs 0.7% per hour.

Updated on 2020-07-19:

Rolling back to Lenovo Power Manger driver version 10.0.115.0 no longer solves the battery drain problem. This driver version now drains the battery too much in hibernation mode: 0.7% per hour.

 

Battery drain in sleep and hibernation

Since a clean installation of Win 10 my laptop battery has begun to completely drain overnight when in sleep or hibernate modes. It is ok when powered off so I suspect the battery is ok.

Any suggestions?
