Windows 11 High GPU Utilization When Screen Sharing on Discord

For the last year I've been non stop going back and fourth from Windows 10 and Windows 11 for one specific reason. I'm loving Windows 11 so far, because in my personal case, it is performing better than Windows 10, but there is one thing bothering me.For some reason when I'm screen sharing on Discord on Windows 11 my GPU utilization goes up to 30% just with 720p 60fps, higher settings make it go up to more than 50% which makes it really difficult for me to screen share GPU intensive games, because the game is using 80-90% of my GPU, making the stream become really unstable and blurry. But t

  2. High packet loss in windows 11,while in a call on discord, etc

Thank you very much for reaching out! As an Independent Advisor and fellow Microsoft user, I'm more than happy to assist you.

It appears that many users are experiencing high packet loss issues on Windows 11, particularly during online gaming and voice calls on platforms like Discord. Here are some potential causes and solutions:

    Potential Causes

    1. Network Congestion: High traffic on the network can lead to packet loss.
    2. Faulty Hardware: Issues with routers, network cards, or cables can cause packet loss.
    3. Software Bugs: Outdated or buggy drivers and software configurations can contribute to packet loss.
    4. Operating System Issues: Specific to Windows 11, some users have reported packet loss that does not occur on other operating systems like Ubuntu.

    Troubleshooting Steps

    1. Update Drivers and Windows: Ensure all network drivers and Windows updates are current.
    2. Check Hardware: Inspect and replace any faulty cables, routers, or network cards.
    3. Network Settings:
      • Disable Green Ethernet: This has helped some users with similar issues.
      • Reset Network Adapters: Resetting network adapters can sometimes resolve packet loss issues.
    4. Quality of Service (QoS): Enable or disable QoS settings in your router to prioritize gaming or voice traffic.
    5. Use Ethernet: If possible, switch from Wi-Fi to a wired Ethernet connection to reduce packet loss.
    6. Test Different OS: Boot into a different operating system like Ubuntu to see if the issue persists, which can help identify if the problem is specific to Windows 11.
    7. VPN: Using a VPN can sometimes route traffic more efficiently and reduce packet loss.
    8. Discord Specific Fixes:
      • Disable Noise Suppression: Turn off noise suppression features in Discord.
      • Use Discord Web: Try using the web version of Discord to see if the issue is with the app installation.

High packet loss on Windows 11 can be due to a variety of factors, including network congestion, faulty hardware, and software issues. By systematically troubleshooting these areas, you can often identify and resolve the underlying cause of packet loss. If the problem persists, consider reaching out to your ISP or testing on a different operating system to further isolate the issue.

Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!

  3. having issues with multi GPU

I’m trying to offload certain apps to my iGPU on the second screen, using the new graphics settings in the recent win 10 release. the issue is it’s only showing my 1070. lists it as both power saving GPU, and
    high performance GPU.

I’ve been fiddling for a while now with no joy, and i’m really hoping one of you guys has an idea they can suggest to sort this!

I can extend onto the second screen no probs with it plugged into the iGPU, but the 1070 is still listed as both power saving GPU and high performance GPU.

Are there requirements for this? certain level of iGPU for it to work?

    Thanks

Edit - setting the secondary screen connected to the iGPU to be the "main" display in graphics settings makes my iGPU show as both power saving and high performance GPU, I just can't seem to get them
to be one and not the other.

  4. Windows 11 High GPU Utilization When Screen Sharing on Discord

Cripplingly High GPU in Windows 10

Dave, the two processes apparently hogging all the GPU were desktop windows manager and client server runtime process.

However, when I list them now, after numerous reboots and reinstalls, no apps show up as consuming GPU, yet GPU is at 80-100%. I think this is because the apps are only consuming the 3D component of the GPU and not the others - copy, decode, processing or
    shared memory usage?

I've spent some time on Google and it seems to be a fairly common symptom but none of the suggested solutions are effective.

It doesn't seem to be linked to any significant changes, I even tried uninstalling the most recent windows updates.

    Any thoughts?
