    Windows 11 - High Runtime Broker CPU/SSD/Fan Specifically During Idle or Sleep


    I'm a developer and run numerous developer tools throughout the day. Vscode, Data Studio, Postman, tons of Edge tabs, Teams, etc. While I am using my computer, the fan only comes on rarely, usually while one of these programs is loading.When I step away from my computer and let it idle, cpu usage spikes, ssd usage increases, and the fan starts going full blast. Task manager shows "Runtime Broker" CPU usage as "very high." If I start typing or moving the mouse, things "go back to normal" and everything is quiet.The same thing happens when I put the computer to sleep. And similarly, everyth

    Runtime Broker high CPU usage

    Surface Pro 2/i5/8GB/64-bit/latest Win10 here. Thanks for the tip. Not only did the fan throttle down to quiet, but the Runtime Broker CPU usage dropped to 0% using 30.6 MB of memory. Coolness!

    Runtime Broker high CPU usage

    I am running Windows 10 Pro (Version 1511 for x64, update KB3149135) and had problems with Runtime Broker.exe using anywhere from 30% to 90% of my CPU. Disabling hints and removing OneDrive did not help me, but I found the advice in this article helpful.
    I used the PowerShell commands as admin and uninstalled all of the suggested apps save the windows store. Not sure which one finally did it but I don't really care as long as I'm not running at 50 degrees Celsius constantly.

    Windows 11 - High Runtime Broker CPU/SSD/Fan Specifically During Idle or Sleep

    Runtime Broker consuming laptop CPU


    Hi. Runtime Broker starts-runs and consumes allmost
    all CPU-time.
    Laptop fan keeps running until I stop the process.
    Tried different suggestions but it still keeps starting.
    E.g. disabling time broker service.
    Problem still occurs for some reason.
    Please help with how you solved it.
