Windows 10: Windows 11 home edition Defender bitlocker bug

Hello. I have a Brand new lenovo idelcenter 5I Windows 11 22H2 Home Edition that is up to date. I tried to run a Microsoft Defender Antivirus scan offline scan and it asked for a recovery key. This should not be happening.

Bitlocker availability on Windows 11 Home

As far as I know Bitlocker is not available to use with Win 11 Home User but is available in Professional Edition.

The answer is that only a small part of BitLocker functions work in Windows 11 Home edition, we can only access a BitLocker-encrypted drive in Windows 11 Home edition, but we cannot encrypt a drive with BitLocker, decrypt a BitLocker-encrypted drive, or change the password for a BitLocker encrypted drive.

Bitlocker preventing Safe Mode in Windows 11 Home Edition

I am trying to start my Windows 11 Home Edition laptop in Safe mode, but I keep getting asked for a Bitlocker key. Everything I read states that the Bitlocker encryption isn't even available for Windows 11 Home Edition, so why would this thing getting in the way of me doing a Safe mode startup?

 

Auto unlock BitLocker in Windows 11 Home

Go to Start > Settings > System > Storage > Advanced storage settings > Disks and volumes. Click on the Properties button of a volume. Is there an auto-unlock option there?

(edit) Wait a minute. You are on Windows 11 Home edition. I do believe there are some limited Bitlocker options available on the Home edition but auto-unlock is not one of them. I would suggest upgrading to Pro if Bitlocker is important to you.
