  2. Windows 7 starts from sleep - no network

I have had issues with some ISP routers that will not allow a network card to wake up if it goes into sleep mode. Do you have wake-on lan enabled in the BIOS. If so, I would recommend disabling it.

I make this guess based upon both personal experience and symptoms. A reboot forces the nic to wakeup from being off. Sometimes coming out of hibernation or standby will not allow the card to properly wakeup. If you cannot renew an IP through the command prompt the system sees that the nic is there, but cannot communicate with it because it has remained in sleep mode.

  3. Sleep

    Hi,

This may happen due to its power plan. A power plan is a collection of hardware and system settings that manages how computers use and conserve power. For this, we suggest that you reset and restore power plans to its default. kindly follow these steps:

    • Open the Command Prompt (Admin).
    • Copy and paste the command below into the command prompt, and press
      Enter
      :
      • powercfg -restoredefaultschemes
    • Close the Command Prompt window, and then restart your PC to apply the changes.

After that, go to Power & sleep settings
by typing it into the Windows Search. Check the When plugged in, PC goes to sleep after
    settings is set to Never.

Let us know if the steps above helped you to resolve the issue.

  4. Windows 11 Home - System Prompts Me For Network PW with every reboot or if it goes to sleep

    System goes to Sleep

    Hi Keith,

Thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community. I understand your concern, and we in Community will try to resolve your issue the best way we can.

As per you query, I suggest that you refer to the methods provided below and check if it resolve your issue:

    Method 1: Run power troubleshooter.

    • On the search bar type “Troubleshooting”
    • Click on “View All” left panel.
    • Click Power, new window will popup.
    • Follow the on screen instructions.

    Method 2:

If the power troubleshooter didn’t detect any incorrect settings, then it is possible that the issue is caused by an incompatible or corrupt driver. When the computer goes to sleep mode, Windows sends a request to all hardware parts asking to enter
sleep mode. But if the driver for a particular hardware part (like a network adapter or graphic card) is corrupt, it might not respond to these requests and may prevent the computer from entering sleep mode. To resolve this issue I would suggest that you open
Device Manager and check if any of your drivers need an update.

    Hope this information helps.
