Windows 10: Windows 11 Home to Pro upgrade bought in Microsoft Store fails to upgrade my laptop.

I have Windows 11 Home and purchased the Pro upgrade through the Microsoft store. I keep getting Windows upgrade failed Error Code:0x80070490. I tried using the generic key but that fails as well. My Microsoft account shows I paid for the upgrade Home to Pro, but it shows my Lenovo Laptop is still a Home Account. How do I fix this issue?

Windows 11 home upgrade to Windows 11 Pro upgrade through the Microsoft store

Have you tried restarting the device after this? Check, if you see Adding features screen. If you see those screens, let them completed so that you arrive to Pro edition. Also refer this guide:

Windows 11 home upgrade to Windows 11 Pro upgrade through the Microsoft store

I purchased a new laptop with Windows 10 Home already installed. It had a free upgrade to Windows 11 Home. I installed that last night and confirmed that it was installed through the settings page. Tonight, I upgraded from Windows 11 home to Windows 11 Pro through the Microsoft store using the Microsoft instructions. I paid the upgrade and confirmed that I purchased the product, but the installation failed. I now have a message on my Activation page showing the state as not active. See screen shot below. Any suggestions?

 

Windows 11 Pro Upgrade from Windows 10 Pro Edition

No but after it installed the malfunctioning Windows 11 upgrade it was listed as Windows 11 Pro. Microsoft Windows support advised I reinstall Windows 10 Pro and said that Windows 11 is really only meant for new PC's that come with it preinstalled. MSI website doesn't list my 2020 GT76 Titan dt-039 notebook on their Windows 11 upgrade eligibility list so I guess that's why the Windows 11 Pro upgrade failed. I suggest being careful with trying the Windows 11 upgrade despite it stating my notebook was capable of running Windows 11 it was wrong. Luckily I have the original Windows 10 Pro USB Flash drive because the Windows 11 Pro upgrade was so incomplete I had no way of reverting notebook back to Windows 10 without reinstalling from a USB Flash.
