Windows 10: Windows 11: How to fix/restore old notepad's recent document feature in the taskbar?

How can I restore the notepad's recent document feature in the taskbar for windows 11?I have uninstalled the default win11 notepad app, and used the notepad.exe found in \system32, and it works I got the old notepad back, but I found that it does have the recent document feature that shows in the taskbar, is there a way to fix or restore it?

Notepad after recent Windows update doesn't show title of active document in Taskbar

Recently I've updated my Windows system to 2023-02 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5022913)

After that I could see that Notepad is capable to open file in Tabbed way. But while doing such - I don't see anymore active document title while hovering mouse over Notepad icon in TaskBar. Regardless what document I open now - it shows title as just "Notepad", so having multiple ones - I cannot jump easily from Taskbar to needed document.

 

Turn 'Word Wrap' off default in Notepad

I can repro the issue. Notepad doesn't seem to query the "word wrap" setting. This may have happened after the KB5022913 update, I think. Please report this in the FBH. Until this gets fixed, you can switch to classic Notepad using these steps:

1. Open Settings → Apps.
   
2. Expand “More settings” and click “App execution aliases.”
   
3. Disable the “Notepad” alias by turning off the radio button.

Recent Documents


Right click on Word, Excel, Notepad, Wordpad and you will see a list of recent files used by that program, I have these pinned to the Taskbar so I can right click, pick the document or files I want and poof, I'm there.
