Windows 10: Windows 11: HOW TO STOP ASKING "select an app to open this file"?

Good day To Whom It May Concern.I'm running on Windows 11. I installed the third party application that's been running for long time and got no issues until Windows 11 starting to give me huge headache of "select an app to open this .dcp file". I made the schedule to run the program to send a file to another machine using Task Scheduler. In the Task Scheduler I selected the name of the task I made to run. As I run the task to test it, it kept asking me "select an app to open this .dcp file". I tried "Just Once" and "Set to default". None of them working. My computer is not here to open the ap

This one works for me but I added this steps:

On Search Bar type %temp% (it will open temporary files) just hit ctrl +A and then delete all

because after following the steps above still didn't work so I did this additional steps and it work!

I suggest you to follow the below steps.

1) Right click on the file and select choose another app to open. It will display the list of apps to open.

2) If the app is not listed then select more apps and check if you can find it.

Selecting apps to open files while using Open with on Windows 10

Let me confirm that the apps or application that appears in the list of Open with depends on the selection and there usage. Sadly, we don't have any manual option for forcing this change that makes that app appears in the Open with list.



Suggest you to try using the app for multiple time, when you make selection with the Open with to see if it automatically appears for the next time.
