Windows 11, Hyper-V Licensing question with PtoV

HelloI have a windows 11 machine with 64GB of memory and a lot of disk space with Hyper-V running. With the closing of my business, I have one machine that has several applications on it like QuickBooks and other business tools that cannot be re-installed easily that I would like to migrate it to a virtual Machine so I can continue to run the machine. As a proof of concept, I have tested the SysInternals tool Disk2vhd and moved a hard drive from an old laptop to a VM and it seems to work after a few configuration adjustmentsthe question I Have is around windows 11 licensing. Hyper-V on Windows 11 Question

For various reasons, it is imperative that I be able to write and maintain code for Foxpro v2.6 for DOS applications.

I currently dual-boot my Windows 10 x64 Pro desktop with Windows 7 x32 bit. After disabling my nVidia Titan GPU, the Windows 7 environment is perfect for my needs.

As fate would have it, my current desktop is too ancient to meet the minimum qualifications for Windows 11, so I will, eventually, need to move to newer hardware.

However, I have a laptop that successfully upgraded from Windows 10 to Windows 11. It, seemingly, meets all the Windows 11 Hyper-V requirements.

My question is, can Hyper-V on the laptop, with Windows 7 x32 bit, create a similar environment for my Foxpro v2.6 for DOS?

If so, where might I find some resources on how to accomplish that. I have no experience whatsoever with virtual machine environment(s).

If not feasible/possible with Hyper-V, what alternative(s) would you suggest?

    Thanks for listening,

Can't enable hyper V on window 11 pro

    Hi RexPan,

Can you see the Hyper-V Manager in the start menu? Run msinfo32 and see if the hypervisor can be detected.

Check if there is any other virtualization software installed on your computer. If yes, uninstall it and try again.

Also check if there are any third-party antivirus or security software that may be blocking Hyper-V. Try disabling them temporarily and see if that helps.

Refer to this link to enable Hyper-V on Windows 11

    Hyper V deativication

    Hi Geoffrey,

Hyper-V lets you run an operating system or computer system as a virtual machine on Windows. Before proceeding in disabling
Hyper-V, please create a backup of your files for security purposes.

To disable Hyper-V, please follow the steps below:

    • On the Cortana search box, type Turn Windows Features on or off and press
      Enter.
    • Look for the Hyper-V folder.
    • Uncheck the tick-box next to the main Hyper-V folder and click
      OK.
    • Restart your PC.

Should you have further questions, please let us know.
