Windows 10: Windows 11 - I have 2 C:Windows directories - one has a space at the end. Cannot remove...

Hello all,I have searched high and low and cannot find an answer to this problem.My explorer shows 2 copies of "C:\Windows" one that is the normal legit C:\Windows directory and the other which has a space at the end. It only takes up about 80KB of disk space and references invalid copies of all items in C:\Windows as there is a space at the end.I cannot delete the directory because it acts as if it is the normal C:\Windows directory without the space.I have run DISM, SFC, CHKDSK - the whole 9.I also do not have an option in my "Disk Cleanup" to remove windows system files. I am at a total l

Remove a folder with space at the end!

Yes i see the folder inside of the explorer, with the space at the end (what is no valid filename under windows with NTFS). If i try to remove it via explorer. I guess windows tries to delete a directory without a space at the end and can not find it.
I try the PowerShell command. Thx for your response.

 

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.
