  1. Windows 11 incorrect Geolocation - NOT IP related!!

We manage Intune devices, and obviously we need an accurate location for find my PC.We are based within Lincolnshire, UKWe are getting a Random location in the USA - "Windsor" not to be confused with Windsor UK.The issue is not IP related, if I search our IP it shows the location we are in.I have been searching for solutions to this issue for hours even days on end. Tried all the solutions on other forums. Nothing has worked. I've seen that this may be a bug - so please investigate and fix this. It is causing significant delays in our Windows 11 Intune Deployment.Thank you

    :)

  2. Are Windows 10 & 11 blocking my IP geolocation?

I have several Windows weather apps including Radarscope and Strawberry Weather. Problem: About two months ago both of these Windows apps started reporting my geolocation IP address as being 50 miles south of my actual location. Meanwhile, these same apps on my iOS devices (iPhone, iPad) correctly report my IP geolocation. Is there maybe a Windows setting that is causing this problem?

If I browse to https://www.geolocation.com/, I get the message: "User has denied the request for sharing location. Please enable location sharing in web browser." However, location sharing is enabled for both Chrome and Edge, as well as in the Windows privacy settings, so why am I getting this message? Is this related to the Windows weather app problems?

Meanwhile, My Location - Where am I Right Now? correctly identifies my location. I'm confused.

I contacted Radarscope via the Microsoft store and they told me the problem is my ISP. I talked to my ISP (Xfinity) and they said this isn't their problem to solve. Again, the fact that geolocation works fine on my iOS devices suggests this is a Windows issue. Any suggestions? Thanks.

  3. Are Windows 10 & 11 blocking my IP geolocation?

    Hi Diplocaulus,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Content related to location services and privacy is described in this link.

Your test environment spans different versions.

In theory, Windows doesn't block your IP geolocation.

    • Geolocation is an important parameter that can provide the basis for many other services.
I believe that for products developed by large enterprises, the acquisition of geographic location will not be actively restricted.

For ISPs, they provide services based on network technology. Network technology involves multiple levels, from the basic electrical level to the macroscopic physical equipment level, and finally to the software level where the parameters are refined.

    • Network services are distributed all over the place, and the service area of the LAN does not necessarily match the physical location of the server.
    • Configuring precise network location assignments for specific physical locations is a daunting task.
Network practitioners need to be very cautious about network configuration changes. A little carelessness may cause large-scale network anomalies.

Windows adopts a relatively simple positioning method and does not carry other built-in modules for positioning like mobile devices.

The fact that geolocation works fine on mobile is evidence that at least one of the targeting methods is uploading relatively correct data.

Thanks for your patience and understanding!

    Best Regards,
