Windows 10: Windows 11 Indexing is paused and wont restart.

My indexing has decided to rebuild and is now paused.I have run the trouble shooter. Never works.I have stopped and restarted via services.msc. It starts then pauses immediately.I do not use outlook.Rebuild starts and then pauses.I've tried through task manager. No joy.My laptop never runs on battery. And in any event, my setting to respect power settings when indexing if off.Running DISM and SFC scans do not help.I can't find gpedit.msc to disable indexer backoff or when running on battery power.Windows updated as follows on 10 April 24: 2024-04 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 f

Indexing is pausing Automatically

We have found issue with the indexing in Windows 11.

Indexing has been paused automatically.

Already checked the following steps.

1) Troubleshoot Search & indexing issue by Windows Troubleshoot

2) Restarted Windows Search Service in services.msc

3) Restarted & Updated

After these steps the system index for an while.

But It will pause automatically after a while.

Please help me to find a solution.

Issue show on almost all Windows 11 PC which is recent upgraded from Windows 10 Home version.

 

Windows 11 Search Index Pauses and never completes.

We have several users reporting that on their new Windows 11 PCs the Windows Search doesn't work. Upon further investigation, we find that for new profiles in Windows 11 the indexing never completes and will pause often. I did a quick search and see that this has been an issue for years with Windows but we have not been affected by it until now in Windows 11.

Nothing suggested by Microsoft has worked. We can't make restarting the service a "fix" for the issue. I know it's not our anti-virus BitDefender because I tried uninstalling it, rebooting and rebuilding the index, it paused almost immediately. I even tried using a different location for the index folder.

Looking at the CPU while the index is build and it never goes above 10%, so it's not a resource issue.

Windows 11 Indexing is paused

I have a similiar issue: In my Windows 11 system (upgraded from Windows 10) the search index is paused after each Windows system restart. The "Windows Search" service (WSearch) has status "Running" but the "Indexing Options" dialog box shows "Indexing is paused". Restarting the WSearch solves the problem until to the next system restart.

Two things are annoying:

(1) My restart problem

(2) A missing "Resume" button in the "Indexing Options" dialog instead a grayed-out "Pause"

The fastest way to restart WSearch:

(1) Open Task Manager (Ctrl+Shift+Esc), be sure More details in the bottom is clicked (or Fewer details is shown there)

(2) Select Services Group, sort by Name

(3) Find "WSearch" in the Name column and select with right mouse button and select "Restart"
