Windows 10: Windows 11 is not showing Dual Monitor when booting from F9 USB behind a VPN flash drive

When using the HP with windows 11 and a dual Acer monitor KA242Y, it shows both monitors and allows me to extend. However, it says it does not detect another display. When I boot for work using an USB and signon via a VPN, I can no longer get the second monitor to show or settings under the VPN to even identify another monitor. This worked perfectly with Windows 10, but not able to get around it now with Windows 11. Any suggestions?

Normally you can't install Windows on an external drive. You can use WinToGo technology to do that. I used a free program called WinToUSB to install Windows 11 on an external M.2 SSD. The gotcha is that the O/S on the external drive is not dual-boot. I.E, it is not in the traditional boot menu. To boot it:
1. Connect the external drive with the operating system to a USB port
2. Boot the computer
3. Hit key which brings up boot menu
4. Select USB drive with operating system from list

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk
