Windows 10: Windows 11 is preventing touch input while pen is actively writing

We are developing a web based drawing application, and when running in windows, it seems that the operating system ignores all new touch input while a pen is actively writing. I am aware of the "Ignore touch input when I’m using my pen" setting, and also the "PenArbitrationType" registry item but neither of these has an affect on this specific scenario. Tablet mode and Handwriting input in windows 11 in non touch laptop with xp pen.

   • Scroll down to Taskbar corner icons and toggle on Pen menu.
     
   • Click on the pen icon in the taskbar and select Handwriting. This will enable the handwriting input panel.
     
2. Enable the On-Screen Keyboard:
   
   • Go to Settings > Accessibility > Keyboard.
     
   • Toggle on the On-screen keyboard option. This will allow you to use the virtual keyboard whenever you need it.
     
3. XP Pen Star G640 Settings:
   
   • Ensure you have the latest drivers for your XP-Pen Star G640. You can download them from the XP-Pen official website.
     
   • Open the XP-Pen tablet settings application.
     
   • Make sure the pen is properly calibrated and configured for your display.
     
   • With the handwriting panel enabled, you can use your XP-Pen to write directly in this panel. The system will convert your handwriting to text in compatible applications.
     
4. Exploring Handwritten Input: Open an application where you want to use handwritten input (e.g., Microsoft OneNote). Use your XP Pen Star G640 stylus to write directly on the screen. Windows Ink Workspace provides additional tools and features for pen input, which you can explore.

Lenovo x201 touch input and pen input conflict

Hi Maliq,

Disabling and re-enabling the touch and pen input driver might resolve this issue for you. Here are the steps:

1. Select the search box in the taskbar, enter device manager, and then select
   Device Manager in the search results.
2. Select the arrow to the left of Human Interface Devices.
3. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select
   Disable.
4. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen, and then select
   Enable.

How can I disable finger touch input while leaving pen input enabled on a touchscreen.

Alternatively, another expert suggested that you do the following steps.

1. Open "Settings", and click/tap on the "Devices" icon.

2. Click/tap on "Pen & Windows Ink" on the left tab.

3. Check (on) or uncheck (off - default) Ignore touch input when I’m using my pen
