Windows 11 is treating my headphones wrong after reset.

I recently reset my PC due to optimization issues, but after resetting, I felt that the audio was quieter than before the reset whenever I set the volume level to something like 20 or lower. So I did some research, and it turns out that Windows 11 is treating my headphones as speakers. Can anybody help in changing it into headphones in Windows?

    :)

  2. Windows 11 keeps treating headphones as headsets resulting in bad audio quality

I have now tried to use 3 brand new wireless headphones with my Windows 11 PC. Each is from a different manufacturer. Windows 11 keeps treating headphones as headsets resulting in bad audio quality. I cannot force windows 11 to output to the headphones as headphones, instead it treats each set of headphones as a headset (with a maximum of tape recorder quality audio). This is driving me nuts. This is an issue affecting millions of people and has been going on since windows 11 was released. Each time Microsoft appears to try to get blame the headphone manufacturer. Well I've have tried using 3 sets of wireless headphones from 3 different manufacturers, so the problem is clearly windows 11. It's a new fully updated PC running windows 11. I would appreciate any help. By the way, NONE of the headphones I've tried even have a mic. They are headphones not headsets.

  3. [WTB][EU]   Beginner audiophile headphones

i would also recommend looking at the Audio Technica m50s if this is your first step into audiophile headphones.

most of the cans you listed will also need an amp to push them.

Windows 11 keeps treating headphones as headsets resulting in bad audio quality

Many thanks for your reply. FYI it's a PC not laptop. I am stunned those GV-BT550 headphones contain a mic (as I never new that). Thanks to you I have found how to change the output device for a specific app (e.g. VLC player) in Windows 11. However the only applicable driver option available is a 'headset' driver (not headphones driver) (see attached image). The sound quality remains tape recorder quality as it's a headset not headphones driver:

PS the other driver for "headphones (Realtek(R) audio) is for sa different set of headphones that have to be plugged in with a wire/jack (it's the only way to get normal headphone quality sound, they are not wireless). None of my 3 wireless headphones work (i.e. they are all tape recorder quality only as windows 11 treats them as headsets not headphones). Is there no headphone (not headset) driver for gv-bt550? Or any solution for any of the 3 wireless headphones I have? How do I set Default device (without mic) vs default communications device (i.e. with mic)? Anyone know? I'm using windows 11. Many thanks to anyone providing advice!
