Windows 10: Windows 11 Japanese Basic Typing + Handwriting not downloading

Hi,I am using a Surface Pro 7 running on Windows 11 and recently tried adding Japanese to my device's languages. I went through the language & region settings page and added the language as normal, however, it has only been partially downloaded. It has only installed the language pack, text-to-speech, and speech recognition. The two features I need to use, typing & handwriting, don't seem to install. If I try and install them again through the settings, it shows an empty progress bar, then a few seconds later it will show up as downloaded before disappearing and giving me the option to

im trying to download the Japanese basic typing/handwriting/speech packs but it keeps failing and when i click on more details it just opens manage optional features

 

Japenese IME Basic Typing etc not downloading.

Suddenly two weeks ago my Japanese Ime was no longer suggesting Kanji, therefore rendering the IME useless.

I removed it with the intention to reinstall. All seemed well as the Language Pack downloaded but the basic typing, speech recognition and and handwriting have never completed downloading despite many efforts other the last week or so.

This is extremely frustrating!

I have installed the Google Japanese IME as a temporary measure but even then I can't type in Hiragana in Microsoft word.

Has anyone else had this same issue. I see many cases online of people having various problems with the Microsoft Japanese IME in the past.

I am afraid I am not so tech savvy so I hope there is a clear solution to this.

Not able to download Japanese Language Pack - Basic Typing after update

Hi All,

I'm using Windows 10 and after update to Build 17763, input of Japanese with Microsoft IME stopped working.

Whenever I try to switch to Japanese typing, it displays "Japanese IME is not ready yet".

After searching a bit, I've decided to re-install the language pack.

Re-install works however downloading of "Basic Typing" fails with either below message:

Here is the exact step I've taken:

1. Time & Language > Language > Preferred Language

2. Select Japanese > Remove

3. Add a language > Japanese

4. Select Japanese > Options

5. Despite "Basic Typing" were selected in (3), Download button appeared

6. Click on download and voila

There's informaiton level log in event log which doesn't really help:

I've also tried Advanced Settings for Microsoft IME > Reset Property Setting but to no avail.
