Windows 10: Windows 11 KB5014697 not installing with error 0x80073701

I tried alot of methods to fix this but none of them worked. i tried resetting windows update, chkdsk /f sfc /scannow dism startcomponentcleanup dism scan health dism restore health dism checkhealth i tried this bat file here: SC config trustedinstaller start=auto net stop bits net stop wuauserv net stop msiserver net stop cryptsvc net stop appidsvc Ren %Systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old Ren %Systemroot%\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old regsvr32.exe /s atl.dll regsvr32.exe /s urlmon.dll regsvr32.exe /s mshtml.dll netsh winsock reset netsh winsock reset proxy rundll32.exe

When you do what?

Repair install or Windows Update?

KB4586781 won't install error 0x80073701

Sounds like you've set updates to Notify.

You can view configured updates quite readily - tutorial available.




If you don't know how to navigate to that policy, Policy Plus (free) has a useful 'Find' feature:




You can try Tweaking.com's tool, if if still no joy, proceed to the next step, which as Tekkie Boy indicated would be an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data, or just do that anyway.

They should have no impact on group policy settings.
