  1. Windows 11 keeps reverting to 30Hz on any resolution

Hi, i've had the exact same setup of my pc for a few years now, on Windows 10. Never had any problem, today, I played GTA5 for a while, like always, on 4K 60FPS with V-Sync ON. After I finished playing i decided to go ahead with Windows 11 Upgrade. After which I was curious to test W11's performance so I went back into GTA5 and I saw that it's FPS is capped to 30FPS now, unless i turn off V-Sync in which case i'm getting around 80FPS, however I want to use V-Sync because I'm on a 4K TV not a Gaming Monitor so it works better. I tried a lot of stuff, nothing changes, what I understand is that a

  2. Windows 11 is reverting video drivers to older version

    Hi all.

I have been having this issue some 3 weeks now. Windows 11 keeps reverting my video drivers to an older version.

I have an Acer Aspire 5 notebook equipped with an Intel UHD graphics card. My monitor is a Samsung 32-inch 4K monitor that has 2 HDMI input ports, being HDMI1 @ 30hz and HDMI2 @ 60hz. I have been using it on HDMI2 at its native resolution of 3840x2160 @ 60hz for over a year now.

The generic driver that came with Windows 11 was capable of this resolution and refresh rate and worked fine until a few weeks ago, when it got "updated" and stopped working with my monitor. In fact it worked, but only on HDMI1 @ 30hz, and it was not possible to connect to HDMI2 at all - Windows would recognize the monitor on HDMI2 just to immediately disconnect it, and then it would loop this behaviour - connect, disconnect - indefinitely until I physically disconnected the HDMI cable. On HDMI 1 @ 30hz images were choppy and audio was cutting when output through the monitor, a behaviour that did not happen before this driver was changed. (After a while I was able to make it work on HDMI2, by changing the input on the monitor menu to HDMI1, configuring a different resolution on windows while still connected to HDMI2, and then changing back on the monitor menu to HDMI2 - but only at lower resolutions or even at 4k but @ 30hz, which is unacceptable since it all worked perfectly just a few days before.)

I do not know the version of the older generic microsoft driver that was working until this problem started. The new version of the generic driver that is NOT working is 30.0.101.1298, dated 10th January 2022.

I have installed a newer, updated driver downloaded from the Intel website, with a version number 31.0.101.2111, dated July 19, 2022. This works perfectly at every resolution and refresh rate supported by my monitor, and the sound is also flawless.

Since then, windows has been reverting to this older 30.0.101.1298 driver at random. Sometimes I turn off the computer at night and the next morning the drivers have been reverted. Once I left the computer on and went for lunch, when I came back the drivers had been reverted and my monitor wouldn't work.

The last time this happened was a couple of days ago, when I was able to tell windows to "revert" to the previous drivers (meaning, revert the newly-installed bad drivers v30.0.101.1298 to the newer Intel UHD 31.0.101.2111 that was installed before!!!). But just TODAY I updated my Windows 11 with the 22H2 update, and once again the drivers have been reverted to the old ones, with no way to revert back to the previous Intel drivers that were working until this very morning. I had to reinstall the Intel drivers again, for the 6th time.

It seems windows identifies the new Intel UHD drivers as "older" than the version 30.0.101.1298, or maybe as "unsigned" - but I'm looking at it right now, it says it is signed digitally by "Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher". What the hell, Microsoft?

Now, to whoever might answer this question, please don't tell me to use different cables, to try to connect to another monitor, to try a clean driver install or to try to restore windows. Also don't tell me to download a third-party tool do hide the update, I HAVE DONE ALL OF THESE THINGS and it still keeps happening.

What I need is an answer from Microsoft as to why this keeps happening, and for it to STOP happening. Are you even looking into this problem? I have newer drivers, stop uninstalling them!

    Thanks!

  3. Display resolution keeps changing

    Hi Rick,

It might be caused by a faulty driver that's why your display resolution keeps changing. We
suggest that you uninstall and reinstall the display driver, see steps below:

    • Press Windows key + X and click on
      Device Manager.
    • For graphics cards, expand the Display adapters category, right click your graphics card and select Uninstall.
    • Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

  4. Windows 11 keeps reverting to 30Hz on any resolution

HDR and WCG will not turn on for 4k 60hz, only 30hz.

    Hi UmeedMalik,

Issue like this might be due to an outdated videocard driver. I'd like to get more information regarding this so we could further check and provide a more established workaround. Please answer the following:

    1. What is the current build and version of your Windows 10?
    2. Is this the first time that you are trying to connect your PC to your TV?
    3. What type of cable did you use to connect your computer to your TV?

In the meantime, try the following suggestions to isolate the issue:

    • Download and install all the suggested Windows cumulative and security update.
    • Install the latest video card driver. Download it directly from the manufacturer's website.
    • Use a different HDMI cable. Check if your video cable supports 4k 60hz resolution. Some HDMI cable only supports 30hz at 4k.
    • Try connecting your PC to you TV alone. This will help us eliminate hardware conflict issues.

If you would like me to provide additional advice, simply respond to this thread. I will get notified and I’ll reply to you as soon as I can.
