  1. Windows 11 laptop now requires full restart to change WiFi networks - how to fix???

Hello! A month or two ago, my Dell XPS laptop begin exhibiting a very frustrating behavior: it now requires a full restart in order to connect to a wifi network, even a network it has already accessed and was functioning, if it goes out of range or disconnects for some reason. For example, when I switch from my home wifi to my phone's hotspot, even though both are known and stored in the laptop's wifi registry, I get "connected, no internet" as the connection status - until I restart the laptop, at which point it will connect and function normally. After the restart and successful reconnection

    :)

  2. I'm online from my wifi laptop but can't connect to my home network

Nope, I've tried all the steps of all the fixes listed by Dalchina and Try3 but the problem still exists. The W10 laptop refuses to access my main W7 pc (named CG16) on my home network, although it can 'see' it, ie, it shows CG16 in the network list. The only thing I haven't tried is Dalchina's suggestion about creating a shortcut, mainly because I'm not sure where this shortcut is supposed to be. I'm assuming it has to be on the W10 laptop but I don't understand how it could work. More info please, Dalchina, if you'd be so kind. Daymin, sorry: I have no idea what you're trying to say.

Connecting but not getting internet on a particular wifi network in my laptop after system update.

In my Windows11 laptop, I don't get internet on my Home Wifi network even after getting connected to it. However on other wifi networks, my laptop is working fine. In the available network list, I can see the home wifi name but after selecting this network, it is showing "Connected but no internet". Whereas on other laptops, I can use the same home wifi network without any problem. It means there is no issue with the home wifi router or service.

I have already taken following steps:

    1) Restarted home wifi router

    2) Ignored and again added the network in laptop

    3) Ran wifi/internet adaptor troubleshooting

    4) Checked wifi network settting. Found no change in the settings

    5)Restarted laptop.

    But got no result.

Earlier there was no such issue on the same laptop with home wifi network. It appeared after recent update of the system

    Please help.

Windows 11 laptop now requires full restart to change WiFi networks - how to fix???

    Restart required for Wifi

    Hi EternalHazard,

Thank you for participating in the Microsoft Community. My name is Sid, a Microsoft user like you and an Independent Advisor. I am sorry to know that a restart is required before it connects to WiFi. I'll be glad to help you with your concern.

Before we proceed, I want to know if there are pending Windows Update that need to install. If there are any, please go ahead and install them then reboot the machine.

Also, running the network troubleshooter and updating the network driver help to resolve the problem.

Please check the link below and refer to the suggestion provided by A. User and hopefully that works for you too.

    Regards,

    Sid
